Call for Artists:
A Taste of the Village
The Wrightwood Chamber of Commerce is looking for musicians and visual, theatrical, movement, and literary artists to join in their annual Taste of the Village, a map-guided tour of Wrightwood village businesses. Held Saturday, June 1st, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., the tour gives attendees a taste of the hidden treasures our Village merchants offer. They include clothing, flower, book, exercise, realty and gift boutiques along with our exceptional restaurants. Guests come from surrounding communities as well as our own.
Are you an artist seeking an outlet for your work? Are you willing to share your gifts at our event for the pure joy of it? Visual artists of all mediums; rock/blues/classical/vocal musicians; theater and literary artists, contact us to help shape and make this a wonderful, successful day in Wrightwood. Wrightwood’s Got Talent
The Wrightwood Blue Society is hosting the first annual Wrightwood’s Got Talent show. The preliminary round will be held April 14th at 3 p.m. at the Wrightwood Community Center. Finalists will move on to the September 8th performance, for a chance to win the $1,000 scholarship. Open to all K-12 students in the Keyboard Arts, Snowline, West Palms Conservatory, and Victor Elementary School Districts. Classes @ the WAC
Time is running out, but slots are still open for several courses at the Wrightwood Arts Center, as part of the Keyboard Arts winter/spring semester. For more information and to register for these and other classes in music, art, movement, food and hands on science, visit keyboardart.com and select “children” or “adults.”
Artist Spotlight
There are currently two artists showing at the Wrightwood Community Center as part of our Artist Spotlight series. Their work will be on display now through the end of March. Check them out next time you’re in the community building:
Local artist Katheryn Flores specializes in acrylic paintings of dreamscapes and the beauty of the natural world. She dreams in vivid color and fluid movements and expresses her unique visions in each piece of art. Katheryn’s artistic philosophy involves the desire to broaden perspectives in ways to help the viewer to see all that is possible in a simple image…to show how even the mundane can contain magic. Her art conveys bold, brilliant, thought provoking images that turn normal perception on its head and push the viewer toward new internal vistas by means of imagination.
LoLLY: “My name is LoLLy and I am an artist, I think. My house is small and my hands are busy. Selling art makes room for new creations, creations that spark from a flicker of an idea. These ideas run through my head until released upon the lowbrow wolf pack. I am not a painter, I am an opportunist. I am not a sculptor, I am curious. I am not a writer, I am restless. I am just an artist, I think.”

Wine & Watercolors with Gayle Dowling
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
(WW Arts Center, 6020 Park Drive #5)
Wine & Watercolors has been moved to February 9th this month. Normally every 1st Saturday, Gayle Dowling hosts a Wine and Watercolors class at the Wrightwood Arts Center. The $35 fee at the door includes all materials, wine, and fun!
Looking Ahead
Adventure Tour to Cabot’s Pueblo Museum
10:00 a.m. (start)

The WAC will be putting together carpools to Cabot’s for this event. Lunch is also tentatively planned at Essence at Two Bunch Palms (not included in cost). Visit the Cabot’s website for more information on the museum.
Centerstage Presents: Bodie Mountain Express
2:00 p.m. (start)
(WW Community Center, 1275 Highway 2)
Bodie Mountain Express has been performing foot-stomping music since the early 1970s. They opened for Elvis, played Disneyland, and are regulars at bluegrass festivals. Doors open at 1:30p.m. $20 per person. Pay cash/credit at the door, or prior at centerstageww.com.
Paradise Camp Fundraiser
2:00 p.m. (start)
(WW Community Center, 1275 Highway 2)
Gayle and Company will play folk music, with special guests George Keene, and Loran & Michelle. $20 per person at the door. Doors open at 1:30pm. Beer and wine available for purchase by the Village Grind. Proceeds benefit the victims of the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA and will be distributed by the Chico Boys and Girls Club.
